VALHALLA, N.Y. (August 23, 2023) —Wine Enthusiast Companies announced today the 2023 Future 40 honorees. The Future 40 was formerly known as the 40 Under 40. In 2022, Wine Enthusiast pivoted the list to the Future 40 to better represent the inclusion this feature was always meant to convey. Wine Enthusiast’s Future 40 recognizes tastemakers who inspire innovation and are bringing the drinks business into the future. This year’s Future 40 recipients span across many categories with one unifying common theme of advocacy.
From including people of different backgrounds to making changes to better the environment to supporting workers in the hospitality industry, every honoree is advocating for a better future in the drinks space. The 2023 Future 40 tastemakers include:
- The founder of a nonprofit educational platform that helps open up the wine world to marginalized communities;
- The creator who founded an organization during the pandemic intended to remove language barriers for Spanish-speaking workers in the hospitality industry;
- A producer aiming to eliminate single-use packaging with refillable wine bottles;
- A researcher devoted to detecting mealybugs and leafroll virus to keep nurseries and vineyards healthy and free from disease.
“The Future 40 celebrates a diverse list of deserved individuals who are breaking down barriers in the industry,” said Jacqueline Strum, President & Publisher of Wine Enthusiast Media. “The focused attention and hard work put forth by this year’s recipients are uplifting the community and creating systems for long-term sustainability.”
